TMD Staffing in Kyle, TX is hiring a Veterinary Technician for a reputable animal hospital in Wimberley TX.  The Veterinary Technician that we hire will be working hand-in-hand with the veterinarian to ensure quality patient care, and to aid the doctor in achieving greater efficiency by relieving them of technical work.  The person we hire will need to not be afraid of any type of animals.  They must also not have any allergies to any animal fur.  They have to be able to work through euthanasia, immunizations, surgeries and dental procedures. The vet technician will be responsible for setting up patients in the exam room, to clean and prep the exam rooms, and they will have to be able to obtain and record patient histories, vital signs, and weights. They will also have the responsibility of bathing and restraining animals during exams and procedures in addition to collecting diagnostic samples and skin scrapings.  Technicians will have to schedule patients for services and call owners of pets for pick up and updates on diagnosis of patients.  The technician will also have office duties as needed and will be charging for doctoral services.  The perfect candidate will be knowledgeable of veterinary business. At least one year of experience as a Veterinary Technician will be a plus.  This position is a temp-to-hire position and is resume and interview based.

PAY/COMPENSATION:  $17 to $19 / HR.  DOE  

Weekly Pay:  By electronic payment.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Technical:  65%

• Lab responsibilities
• Surgery presence and assisting
• Dentistry - assisting and restraining

Administrative Duties:  25%

• Medical Records - Update as needed
• Communication - Scheduling for services, updates on diagnosis, and pickups
• Customer Service - Charging for services, explaining medication schedule, helping customers bring in or take out the patients
• Assist with inventory physical count
• Log controlled drugs
• Use inventory control module in Cornerstone
• Unpack deliveries, reconcile packing slips, restock supplies

Housekeeping Duties:  10%

• Maintain exam rooms, treatment area and surgery suite: all surfaces clean
• Maintain equipment clean 
• Keep food and drinks out of treatment areas and surgery suite, any place not permitted by OSHA

REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be able to pass a background check
• Must be able to pass a drug test
• Must be eligible to work in the USA
• Must be able to communicate and read English
• Must have reliable transportation
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule
• Must be able to stand, scoop, bend, lift up to 35 lbs. through shift.
