TMD Staffing is looking to hire a Setup / General Laborer for a steel company in the East Houston, TX Area!
WORK ENVIRONMENT: In-Person, Industrial/Steel Manufacturing Environment.
• Assist machine operators with setup, operation, and production activities.
• Prepare materials and load steel products into machinery and processing equipment.
• Assist with machine changeovers, adjustments, and setup procedures to support production operations.
• Measure, inspect, and verify materials according to job specifications and quality standards.
• Perform general labor duties including material handling, sorting, stacking, and organizing steel products.
• Operate hand tools and basic equipment safely and efficiently.
• Assist with moving materials using carts, pallet jacks, forklifts, or other equipment as needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area throughout the facility.
• Support machine operators and production team members with daily manufacturing tasks.
• Inspect products for defects and communicate any issues to supervisors or machine operators.
• Assist with packaging, labeling, and preparing finished products for shipment.
• Perform routine housekeeping duties to maintain an efficient production environment.
• Participate in training programs to improve machine operation and manufacturing skills.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous experience in manufacturing, steel, warehouse, machine operation, or general labor preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced industrial environment.
• Ability to lift, carry, and move materials as required.
• Basic understanding of measurements and ability to use measuring tools preferred.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
• Ability to work as part of a team while maintaining productivity and quality standards.
• Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn machine setup and production processes preferred.
PAY RATE: $17/hr + DOE
SCHEDULE: 10 PM - 6 AM
